Jumbo size Brown – “JMF Meat Maker” line – 12-14 ounces on average at full maturity / Meat production line that produces 12-14 gram eggs on average – This line is popular with buyers who prefer a Coturnix that can be sexed by plumage identification at an earlier age – This line can produce a very small amount of different colored plumage. Plumage identification (sexing) begins at 3 weeks – males will have varied levels of red tones on breast and darker color patterns on head with less white markings than the Standard Wild Type aka “Pharaoh.” Females will have varied levels of spots/dots on breast with some females having very dark brown barring on breast. Our best dual purpose meat & egg line that produces 14-16 gram eggs on average – This line is our most popular line – still a Jumbo – Heavy Class Coturnix, but a little smaller bird in size than our biggest Jumbo meat lines but they lay consistent Jumbo size eggs. A favorite for backyard hobby breeders for ease of plumage sexing as early as 3 weeks – males will have a russet colored breast and hens will have a spotted pattern breast.
